BURLESON, Texas — The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced an open house for the newly constructed Fort Worth Texas Temple.

Free public tours will run from Thursday, Nov. 5, through Saturday, Nov. 21, excluding Sundays. The new temple is located at 1851 Greenridge Drive in Burleson.

The open house provides an opportunity for the public to tour the temple’s interior and grounds while learning about the purpose of the structure.

There are nearly 400,000 Latter-day Saints in Texas worshipping across 756 congregations. Approximately 100,000 Church members reside in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, which is currently served by a single temple in Dallas. Four other operating temples in Texas are located in Houston, San Antonio, Lubbock, and McAllen, with additional temples announced or under construction in Austin, Fairview, Missouri City, and El Paso.

“We are thrilled to invite the entire North Texas community to come to the open house and see this beautiful new House of the Lord. All are welcome!” said Elder Brandon Ellison, the Church’s Area Seventy who oversees the greater Fort Worth region. “This temple represents our faith and hope in the promises of God the Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Regardless of your faith tradition, we hope you will come take a tour and share a few minutes with us.”

Lydia Holt, Stake Relief Society President and leader of the Church’s women’s ministry in the Burleson area, said the temple serves as a place of peace.

“The Fort Worth Temple is a holy place—one where we can draw closer to heaven while still here on earth,” Holt said. “Anyone who steps onto the grounds of the temple with an open heart and open mind will feel the power of heaven and be drawn nearer to God. For me, it is a place of refuge. I look forward to visiting so that I can leave behind the negativity of the world and feel God’s presence, peace, and a connection to heaven. I’m confident that all who come seeking that same peace and refuge will feel God in their lives and leave strengthened.”

Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints differ from traditional meetinghouses or chapels where members gather for Sunday worship services. Each temple is considered a house of the Lord, where Jesus Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed through sacred ordinances that unite families eternally. In the temple, Church members learn more about the purpose of life and make covenants to follow Jesus Christ and serve others.
