For approximately 25 years, Promises Community Ministries, a ministry of First Burleson, has been a place where people in the Burleson 

community can turn duringdifficult seasons. 

What began as an effort to address food insecurity has grown into a ministry serving individuals and families through food assistance, affordable

professional counseling, limited financial assistance, prayer, and personal encouragement.

At the heart of Promises is a simple mission: to meet practical needs while sharing the hope and love of Christ. Meeting Hunger with Help and Dignity Food assistance remains an important part of the ministry. 

The Promises food pantry offers a self-select shopping experience, allowing individuals and families to choose food based on their household’s needs and preferences.

During the summer, Kids Eat Free provides supplemental food for children while school

is out. Many participating families rely on free meals during the school year, making

summer assistance especially important.

Promises also serves senior adults on the first Thursday of each month from 11 a.m.

to 1 p.m. Through a convenient drive-through distribution, volunteers load food directly into participants’ vehicles.

Counseling for Individuals and Families:

The Promises Counseling Center provides affordable professional counseling for people of all ages. Clinically trained Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) and Counseling Associates integrate therapeutic skills with biblical principles to help peoplenavigate life’s challenges.

Services include individual, premarital, marriage, family, child, and adolescent

counseling. Help That Goes Beyond the Immediate Need For many who come to Promises, the impact extends beyond the assistance they receive.

One woman who regularly receives food assistance shared that while she was thankful

for the groceries, she was even more grateful for the prayers of volunteers. During one

visit, she asked for prayer for her husband, who had left their home. 

The next month when she returned to Promises, she shared that the day after that prayer he had come home and was working to rebuild his relationship with her and their children.

Another visitor came to Promises seeking financial assistance during a difficult season. After receiving help, he experienced a significant medical emergency. Promises came alongside him again with support and encouragement as he worked to get back on his feet. 

He later shared his belief that God had used Promises to provide for him when he needed help most.

A Ministry for the Burleson Community:

Promises Community Ministries is located at 140 NW Renfro Street, Burleson, TX 76028. The building facing Renfro houses the Counseling Center, with the food pantry located immediately behind it.

Through groceries, counseling, financial assistance when resources allow, prayer, or simply someone willing to listen, Promises seeks to demonstrate God’s love in tangible ways.

First Burleson is grateful for the dedicated staff and volunteers who faithfully serve their

neighbors and for the opportunity to continue this ministry. At Promises, meeting a need is often where the ministry begins—but offering hope is at the heart of everything it does.
